INTRODUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL RO FILTER SYSTEM DESIGNED BY KHANG NGOC (KNE)

Reverse osmosis (RO) filtration is a water purification process that uses a permeable membrane to separate ions, unwanted molecules, and particles larger than water from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, a pressure is used to overcome the osmotic pressure. Reverse osmosis can remove a wide variety of dissolved and suspended chemicals as well as biological substances (mainly bacteria) from water, and is used in both industrial processes and drinking water production. To be “selective”, the membrane must not allow large molecules or ions to pass through the pores (holes), but must allow smaller components of the solution (such as solvent molecules, e.g. , water ) pass freely.

The direct meaning of reverse osmosis (RO) is the movement of water across a membrane when pressure is applied to one side of the membrane. Reverse osmosis is one of the most effective, economical technologies available to remove a wide range of impurities from water.

BENEFITS OF USE OF RO
As one of the water treatment processes, RO reverse osmosis filtration offers many advantages, including:

  • Reduce Total Dissolved Solids: Reverse osmosis is one of the rare water treatment processes that can boast a reduction in total dissolved solids. Some other treatment methods with this ability are often less effective than reverse osmosis.
  • Cost-effective: Reverse osmosis is popular in industrial facilities because it is highly economical compared to alternative filtration methods. It allows plants to handle large volumes of water while staying comfortably within their established budgets.
  • Environmentally friendly: Compared with other treatment methods, reverse osmosis is also relatively environmentally friendly. It uses less energy than other methods such as thermal distillation because it does not rely on energy generation. Using reverse osmosis can help an establishment reduce its carbon footprint, protect the environment, and contribute to climate change.
  • Removes Alkalinity and Hardness: Reverse osmosis removes calcium and magnesium ions that contribute to hard water, as well as carbonate ions that contribute to undesirable alkalinity.
Reverse osmosis is best known for its use in purifying drinking water from seawater, removing salts and other wastes from water molecules.
